Old vacation home with lots of charm

It is located in medieval Blera, at the end of a winding lane with a wonderful view of the countryside.

We found the ancient house in ruins in the 1990s and completely rebuilt it. It has two floors,
cozy and practically furnished and equipped with everything you could wish for in a vacation home. Here is the highlight:

Strictly speaking, you get four floors: a first floor with a living area, an upper floor with two bedrooms and a catacomb deep below with two more floors!
It is ancient and was probably carved into the rock two thousand years ago. For us, this place steeped in history is a special attraction. Where can you find something like this and call it your own?

We have christened it "Taverna" and transformed it into a romantic taverna using antique tiles, as it has a light-filled exit into the forest-like gorge that borders Blera. The terrace we have planned here is still a dream of the future, as is the roof terrace above the bedroom. We have not yet been able to realize either financially.

Furnishings

We have lovingly renovated everything and handed it over with the furniture and fixtures.

New furniture, vintage style everywhere, fitted kitchen with dishwasher and oven, bathroom with shower and washing machine, one bedroom with TV. A cooking area in the tavern. Electric radiators on the ground and second floor.

Location

Blera is situated 60 km north of Rome in a landscape which - in our opinion - is in no way inferior to Tuscany, but has a greater recreational and vacation value. (Especially for horse riding enthusiasts!)

Fortunately, Blera is only known to insiders. That was important to us. You will meet hospitable locals. Even a visit to the corner store around the corner is an experience! For us, all of this was a decisive factor in wanting to live here.

The piazza of the Centro Storico is barely 100 meters away. This beautiful square with the "Bar Paradiso" has actually become our "living room". We spend hour after hour here. It's also worth hanging out here for the artists and globetrotters who, like us, have made the bar their living room. The film "La chimera", which premiered in Cannes in 2023, is also set here and has helped "our" bar achieve film fame.

Blera celebrates original and genuine festivals for its residents all year round. That is also worthwhile. Very much so!

It would be going too far to list all the sights in the area. Just start with a walk through the village and the gorges surrounding Blera. To find more, google nearby towns such as Tarquinia, Calcata, Cerveteri, Sutri, Viterbo, or search for topics such as "terme viterbo" "cavallo blera" etc.  You will be amazed!

If you want to experience something, but also really relax, this is the place for you. We always enjoyed being able to immerse ourselves in the tranquillity of Blera after a noisy day in Rome.

A house with rarity value at a very good price! (We paid more for the purchase and reconstruction at the time).
